Friday Wrap Up – 10.29.2010

Ahh…the air is crisp. It’s finally turned cool in Houston! Thank goodness. What are you doing this weekend? I’m looking forward to a girly weekend, and dressing up as a Cook (me) and Lobster (Lee) thanks to our sweet friends who are letting us borrow their Halloween costumes from last year. I wanted to put Kitty in a crawfish outfit to complete the theme, but he (and Lee) would never forgive me. Are you dressing up this year?

Found!

I’m already looking forward to a girly Saturday of Define-ing, haircut and then lunching/antiquing with Meagan before we hit up what’s sure to be a crazy Halloween scene.  Last night, I was doing some research on the design /antique stores around our area, and this beauty, Found, popped up.  What a gorgeous looking store! The prices are a little out of my range, but the inspiration is invaluable.

Love the green, browns and pop of pink  and green in their showroom display. Plus the chandys are gorgeous!

I Heart Austin, TX

There are lots of reasons Austin is a great city, but today my heart filled with joy to see this amazing house is based in the beautiful ATX .  Austin is full of creative, talented people which makes it so special.  Here are a few shots of the remodeled duplex. I love the thick black and white striped chair in the living room, and the orange vanity in the bathroom.  Little touches make this place very chic.

The owner and designer’s two boys share this room in which vintage maps are used as wallpaper.  This makes me want to re-do Lee’s man wall in all maps! PS: Love the orange tabby cat tail in the bottom left corner!

Friday Wrap Up

Hello Friday! Wow you came fast this week.

What are you doing this weekend? We may be adding another Chenault to the household. No, I’m not prego, but we’re thinking that Kitty might like to have a companion, specifically a girlfriend. As an alpha male who has been spoiled rotten since we took him home from the SPCA, I don’t think he’d react well to another male in the house (besides Lee – who he worships.)

This is how I imagine them getting along in my fantasy world.

Halloween Help!

Help!  Halloween is just around the corner, and I’m drawing a major blank on costumes this year.  Unfortunately,  I’m also being picky in that the ideal costume(s) meets the following standards:

  • Inexpensive
  • Easy to put together
  • PG rated (The “sexiest” I get is Sarah Palin (see below)
  • Clever  Note: this becomes less important as Halloween approaches

In the past, Lee and I have had complimenting costumes as shown in the pics below.

Do you have any ideas for a costume this year?!

If you want to Sing Out, Sing Out

Sometimes I forget how much power a good song can have on you. It can transform you to the time when you first heard the song or stimulate a memory out of nowhere. I love that, and I love how music can waken your spirit – especially when you are not doing the most exciting tasks.

Here are a list of songs (most really embarrassing) that have had some impact in my life

  • He’s a Cold Hearted Snake by Paula Abdul (1990) - wearing neon leggings, crimped hair and Zinc I remember thinking I danced just like Paula and in all seriousness taught my Aunt Vicki how to rock her moves.
  • Don’t Take The Girl by Tim McGraw (1994) – I discovered I liked country music. My parents couldn’t have been less excited.
  • Head Over Feet by Alanis Morissette (1995) – Played on my first “stereo system” on repeat for a year.
  • If You want to Sing Out, Sing Out by Cat Stevens (2001)– I heard Cat Stevens for the first time at leadership camp in NY. It changed my life…My parents were pleased. My friends wondered what the heck I was listening to.
  • Ignition by R. Kelly (2003) – Lee and my first dance ever - at a dirty frat house no less.
  • Crazy Love by Van Morrison (2007) – First dance at our wedding after my request for Ignition by R. Kelly was denied.

Rocking out at Austin City Limits music festival this year
